Manavya, a home of humanity.

I am regular visitor to Manavya(Virtue of Humanity), a home for humanity. Manavya is situated in Bhugaon, around 8 kms from Kothrud Pune. 

This NGO takes care of destitute, orphaned HIV affected children. 

Manavya was started way back in 1997 by Vijayatai Lawate, a social worker.

Vijayatai was a government servant and she closely looked the agonies of children of  sex worker women in Pune. Initially she struggled to help them by working round the clock and taking care of kids in isolated area. In spite of lot of odds faced by her in this social work she continued this mission. As the needs of number of kids were increasing and the kids were enjoying the motherhood of Vijayatai, she decided to start a special orphanage for such kids. Manavya was started like this. Today around 60 children are living happily in Manavya campus. They are excelling in their studies and extra-curricular activities. Few students passed 10th and 12th exams in flying colors.
